NYC Sunrise and Sunset
My first trip, post-concussion, was to New York City. It felt great to be back on my feet again! Being able to use my camera to take photos throughout New York City sans the unbearable and brain-stabbing endless migraines from my concussion, was a breathe of fresh air.
My time in New York was limited. I planned out my itinerary to ensure that I was able to capture some breathtaking images of the sunrise and sunsets in New York.
0600 Sunrise x Hudson River Walkway
I woke up at 4:00 am and made my way to The Hudson River Walkway. My attempt to beat morning traffic was successful, too successful, as I was a bit early to capture a sunrise photo. Luckily I was able to relax at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts while waiting for the sunrise.
I was able to capture the sunlight peaking through the buildings with a nice subtle reflection of Manhattan on the Hudson River.
The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. I recommend this location to those who are interested in capturing Manhattan's beautiful cityscape. Or anyone interested in a beautiful view while in New York. The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway is located in Jersey City and is approximately 10 miles from Times Square.
1645 SUNSET X Rockefeller Top Deck
The rooftop was so crowded at this location that I was barely able to move my arms! This is possibly the reason why tripods are prohibited on top of the Rock. But I was determined to capture a sunset image from this location. I had to.
With a beautiful sunrise image captured, I needed to capture an equally beautiful sunset. And I found the perfect location at Rockefeller Center. A very popular location with a great aerial view of Manhattan. For any one who is interested in watching the sunset in New York, I highly recommend doing so from the top of Rockefeller Plaza. Plan ahead and arrive early as this location is guaranteed to be packed and you will need time to find the right spot to camp and enjoy the view. Just remember to leave the tripods at home.
Below is my version of the sunset from above. The sunset was beautiful and breathtaking!
